Thank you to everyone who participated in our I LOVE ROLCC Trivia. We are so glad that so many of you had participated and hope that this was a fun way for you to learn more about ROLCC. For those of you that missed the answers posted on June 4, 2010, here are the answers below:

1. How many legal, lined parking spaces does ROLCC have in the church parking lot outside?
ANSWER: ROLCC just added new parking spaces to our parking lot this week! The correct answer is 641 parking spaces. We just added 29 new parking spaces last week. If you have answered 612-641 , we have awarded the full points (10 possible points).

2. What is the highest PG&E monthly bill ($ amount) for ROLCC in 2009?
ANSWER: $5912.79. If you answered $5000-$5912.79, we have awarded you the full points (5 possible points). ROLCC is going solar this year, Praise the Lord!

3. How many daughter churches do we have all over the world as of April 2010?
ANSWER: As of April 2010, we had 77 daughter churches. As of today, we have 79. If you answered 77-79, we have awarded you the full points (5 points)

4. Excluding Pastor Tong, what are the combined years of employment of all the ROLCC Pastors (as ordained Pastors) from the current pastors as listed in the ROLCC Bulletin?
ANSWER: The key to this question is "as ordained pastors". June 4, 2010 is I LOVE ROLCC Day in ROLCC! Come and join us as we celebrate the past, present and future of ROLCC. Let's RE-IMAGINE our future together and fundraise together to build up our church and the Kingdom of God! There will be a special door gift that only those that come on Friday June 4, 2010 will receive. So C'mon, let's RE-IMAGINE our future together!

Festivities to include:
Complimentary Dinner starts at 6 PM in ROLCC Phase II. Dinner will stop serving at 7:15 PM so please be on time, otherwise you will only be left with pizza =)

I LOVE ROLCC TRIVIA (participation by Cell Group)
We have a very exciting group trivia competition going on right now in preparation for June 4. From now until May 30, 2010, you and your cell leaders have the opportunity to win a maximum of 20 AMC Movie Tickets for a group outing with your cell group! Just download the form from the post below for trivia questions and turn it into Frances by May 30, 2010 for your cell group to be eligible to win.
*Please note that all your cell members must be present on June 4 to obtain the maximum of 20 tickets, for example, if only 10 of your cell members show up on June 4 and you are the winning cell group, then your group will only receive 10 tickets for the 10 members that showed up. Come one, come all!

CHILDREN PROGRAM
We are so privileged to have David Laflin come and minister to our children this year. He is a renown Christian Illusionist who tells Christian Stories while doing illusion/magic tricks. We will also have a balloon artist make fun balloon animals and hats for your children. This is an event that your kids will love, so be sure to bring your kids so that they can have fun while the adults have fun imagining our future together in the main sanctuary!

Youth Center Grand Opening!
The day that we have all awaited for has come! Jun 4, 2010 will be the Grand Opening of our Brand New Youth Center! We will have a ROLCC Talent Show as well as a Guest Performance by Supreme Soul from America's Best Dance Crew. They will also guest judge the talent show. Dinner for the youth also start @ 6 PM in the Youth Center. Adults will not be allowed to go into the Youth Center on June 4, 2010 until after our fundraising and celebration event is over that night, but there will also be a Youth Center Tour on June 6, 2010 on Sunday morning.

Adult Program:
We will announce our ROLCC Trivia and Cell Group winner during our program, as well as announce the winners for the Family Ministry Drawing Contest. We have the honor of having Pastor Dick Bernal of Jubilee Christian Center share with us on June 4, 2010 and we will also have the opportunity to show you how we are RE-IMAGINING our future and facility here at River of Life Christian Church.

Missed the first tour of 2055? No problem! BFDC and the ROLCC Board are offering you a second chance to tour 2055 this Sunday 12/6 from 9 AM - 1 PM. Come and see how ROLCC will expand the Children Department and Youth Department in 1177 with the help of acquiring 2055. See you there!

BFDC welcomes ROLCC to tour 2055 on Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM. We encourage everyone to drive to 2055 and follow the map to the back parking lot. We will have traffic directors on Sunday to help you navigate. If you are unable to drive yourself, we do offer a charter bus service, however we highly encourage you to drive to 2055. If you are a usual attendee of the second service, we highly encourage you to tour 2055 prior to attending Sunday Service. Each tour will last approximately 15-20 minutes, we do not allow food or drink inside 2055. As you walk through the facility with us on Sunday, we encourage you to pray for the building as you tour with us. Thank you so much, see you on Sunday! Don't forget this Sunday is daylight savings time!

Results of 5/3 Shuttle and Service Survey

Thank you all for participating in our Shuttle and Service Survey on May 3, 2009. Below are the results:

89% are willing or open to using the Shuttle Service
43% would prefer a shuttle every 5 minutes, 42% would prefer a shuttle every 10 minutes
43% found incentives helpful to shuttle use, 43% would use shuttle regardless of incentives
In polling for possible 4th Service Times, 35% preferred Sunday afternoon from 3-5 PM with 32% preferring Sunday evening 5-7 PM, 33% preferred alternative Saturday times
48% are not willing to attend alternative 4th service listed, 16% are willing to attend alternative 4th service
Out of those that are willing to attend an alternative 4th service, 28% volunteered with Hospitality, 13% Worship, 12% Children, 10% Refreshment, 4% Youth, 3% Traffic....30% do not wish to volunteer
Of those who wish for an alternative fourth service, 40% need Children programs, 27% youth, and 16% Nursery

River of Life Christian Church is currently embarking on the prospects of acquiring 2055 Laurelwood Road, which is conveniently down the street from our current facilities. ROLCC is hoping to use its current facility (East Campus) for all Congregation Purposes including: Mandarin Service, English and Youth Services, and an expanded Children Department, newly built Youth Center, Overflow Room and new Hospitality Centers and Zone Pastor Centers. If we are successful at acquiring 2055 Laurelwood (the future ROLCC West Campus), the space will be used as the following: ROLCC International Missions and Glocal Headquarters, ROLPLI, Equipping Center, ROLF, Prayer Center and Office.

Please pray with us as we begin the process of communicating this exciting new venture and enter into the process of acquiring 2055 Laurelwood Road.

Phase II Master Plan Complete!

After one year of partnering with RNL Design, the Master Plan for River of Life Christian Church is now complete! We have managed to incorporate all of the Ministry Needs within this Master Plan that meets our budget. However due to the status of the current economy, we will not be building Phase II at this time. The building of Phase II will be deterred until God's timing is right for this project.

For now, please enjoy viewing the Sketch renderings that RNL Design has prepared for us in accordance to our Master Plan.

Phase II Plan of Action

The development of the Phase II Renovation will be carried out in 2 parts. Phase 2.1 will consist of building the Youth and Children Centers and will subsequently be constructed first. Phase 2.2 will consist of building an 1800 persons sanctuary and additional spaces as listed in BFDC's Scope of Work. ROLCC i s currently finishing the Master Plan with RNL Design, stay tuned to when the Master Plan will be completed and when construction will begin!

1. Why are we starting the design phase of Phase I?
River of Life Christian Church is currently over capacity with its current building space and usage. We would like to start designing Phase II so that we can build a Children's Center and Youth Center that would allow more room in the existing building for adult classrooms and overall church growth. Eventually, we will look to build a larger auditorium in the remainder of the Phase II space. The children and Youth Center will be our first priority.

2. Who will be the Architect for this project?
RNL Design is the architect firm that we have chosen for our Phase II Project. They are a large design firm based in Denver, Colorado with 3 other offices around the world including Phoenix, Los Angeles and Dubai. They have had experience in building over 100 churches and have also had experience designing in California. Please feel free to check out their website at www.rnldesign.com.

3. What was the process in finding the right candidate for the job?
In October 2007, BFDC sent out an RFP (Request for Proposal) to 28 architect firms in which 18 were out of state and 10 were CA based. After we received responses and portfolios from th firms that were interested, we invited 9 firms back to participate in a written questionnaire response. BFDC then invited 6 firms back to participate in a phone conference with the BFDC members based on the questionnaire, and eventually picked 4 candidates to hold an in-person interview with.
*Note: BFDC also invited 2 Architect Consultants to help advice BFDC on industry standards that have been helpful in selecting the right architect.

Pastor Tong's Vision for ROLCC

Thank God for his blessings to our church! Since moving into our current facility in 2003, we have reached the maximum capacity that our current facility can hold. We have a vision to build a glorious church of 5000 members through Worship and Praise, Cell Church, Holy Spirit Renewal, and Glocal (Global and Local at the same time) Impact. In order to reach our goal, we are in need of a new facility that will help us to reach the vision that River of Life Christian Church has.

Our immediate main focus for the next 10 years is to build up the next generation of youth and children to become future leaders in their communities. With our current demographic, we are specifically preparing to raise up the second generation of Chinese Immigrants, youth of both Mandarin and English cultures and children in helping them to find a home in River of Life Christian Church. Because of that, we strive to give them an environment that gives them a sense of belonging. We would like to provide an environment for the youth and children to develop themselves into being mature Christians who have the capability of influencing the generations that come after them. Educating the future generation to bring up future leaders is key to the growth and expansion of not only our church, but to the Christian Community as a whole.

ROLCC is also looking to establish a Christian Leadership and Pastoral Institution at our new facility with the purpose of training pastors and missionaries to go out into the world, both locally and globally, to do church planting and to make a difference in whichever community that they are in. River of Life Christian Church is heavily focused on being a church of Glocal Impact. Our goal is for every member and the church as a whole to influence the world both locally and globally. Our vision is to mobilize every member of our church to do market place ministry and therefore, one day, our whole church can be sent out as witnesses for Christ. Marketplace Ministry knows no limitations in terms of occupation or position and that is why this is so important for ROLCC.

Ultimately, the goal of River of Life Christian Church is to break the traditional boundaries and stereotypes of what a Church should be. We not only want to be a church for all people, we want to be a home for all people. We want to offer our facility as a space in which people can enjoy themselves and be able to grow not only spiritually but also in their personal lives. BFDC is pleased to announce that the long awaited Master Plan for Phase II is well on its way. If you are an ROLCC member, you must know that space is scarce at ROLCC these days and that is why BFDC hired RNL Design Group (www.rnldesign.com) in March 2008 to work with ROLCC in creating a Phase II that will encompass new meeting spaces, fellowship spaces, etc. in building a glorious church for the Lord!
